And it was a challenging week.

It’s the end of term for me! Yes I only have 8 week terms but they’re very full terms and the long gaps between them are necessary to recover. This last week I had 4 tutorials, for 3 of these I’d barely made a start by Monday. I’m quite impressed that I ‘finished’ them all (I did as much as I could, which is something I’m still getting used to after 14 years of education where that was almost everything). And this week the ‘finishing’ seemed to be more complete than other weeks… except with fluid dynamics, and the thermodynamics which had carried over from a couple of weeks earlier when our tutor caught something nasty and virus shaped. But electronics and dynamics went alright!

That probably made next to no sense to anyone that’s not on my Engineering course but oh well.

Other things. I went to see a musical! That was the end of second week for my sister’s birthday. We went to see Wicked and I was very pleasantly surprised. I went a bit dubious as musicals aren’t my thing but it was really good. Really really good. (Though that might be because I’d lose my mind after dealing with a 4 hour delay on the trains if it wasn’t any good) The next day I went to my first Underwater Hockey session. I shivered through the whole thing and later discovered it was the start of a fever. It turned out to be bronchitis and that wiped out three weeks of socialising and reduced my electronics lab to a very shaky 4/5 (my ability to deal with powers of 10 disappeared). But oh well, I’ve been able to breathe for 2 weeks now so it’s all good.

I’ve also discovered the Oxford University Film Foundation! Unfortunately I didn’t manage to go to any of the film festival events they run but I’ve gone to a screenwriting workshop and a film-making workshop since. I’m a tad dubious about the guy running the latter but I think that’s more because he’s too full of himself than because he doesn’t know what he’s on about. Anyway, I’ve had an idea for a short film, hopefully it’ll stew a bit over the holidays up to a point where it might be usable.

In other news I finished my film script! It still needs a lot of work before more than a handful of people can have a read and I’ve neglected it a bit recently. I need to get back into the habit of writing or at least editing. But hurray.

I can’t really think of much else to babble on about. Tomorrow evening I expect to write up my thoughts on the Lies of Locke Lamora for the online-readalong that I’ve joined which should make up for the brevity of this post. Tchus!

Oh, and this made me chuckle.
